Boyd E. Reed

Boyd Eugene Reed, Sr., "Butch", 87, of Conneautville, passed away, at Meadville Medical Center on Friday, June 28, 2013. He was born in Dora, PA on February 28, 1926 a son of Raymond Ray Reed and Mamie Myers Reed. Boyd attended Meadville schools and he held many jobs but spent most of his years working his farm with his wife Mary raising pigs and chickens and selling eggs along many routes. Boyd enjoyed summer holidays when he would build a fire to roast hotdogs and marshmellows and spending time with his family. He also enjoyed going to Niagara Falls to play the slots. He will be sadly missed. Butch served in the US Army during World War II. He hunted and trapped beaver and muskrats in his younger years. Boyd married Mary Ellen Locke on December 4, 1945. She preceded him in death on March 16, 2011. In addition to his wife he was preceded in death by a son, Boyd Eugene Reed, Jr.; an infant brother Howard; a sister in law, Rosie Nichols and her husband Bruce; a brother in law, Donald Schreck; and a sister in law, Alice Reed. He is survived by a son, Larry Reed of Conneautville; three daughters, Nancy Reed of Conneautville, Janice Ferguson and Steve Vozar of Meadville, and Donna Patton and her husband David of Conneautville; one grandson, Robert Patton and his wife Melissa of Stubenville, OH; a sister, Mary Schreck of Meadville; two brothers, Ray Reed of Meadville, and James Reed and his wife Barbara of Sandy Lake and several nieces, nephews, and cousins. Family and friends are welcome to call on Monday, July 1, 2013 from 7:00 P.M. to 9:00 P.M. at Roofner-Collins-Warren Funeral Home and Cremation Services, Inc., 544 Chestnut Street, Meadville. The funeral and committal service will be held at the funeral home on Tuesday, July 2, 2013 at 11:00 A.M. with David Patton, officiating.
