Memories Timeline

Guestbook

  1. Mellie has been my longest customer in my beauty shop. It has been 41 years. I appreciated her always treating my children and grandchildren like some of her own. She was a very special person who always had a smile and cheerful attitude. I will always remember her in a special way and will miss her greatly. Connie Molli

  2. Remembering Mellie, when I was a child growing up in the Troy Center Church, as a kind person and always with a smile on her face. My husband John Proper and I spoke to her one day when we were home to PA and visiting the Amish Store in Troy Center. She still had that smile and wonderful laugh. Mellie, please give my John one of your smiles when you meet him in heaven. Love and peace to all the family. Judy Saxton Proper

  3. Mellie and John were my second set of “Pennsylvanian” parents. After my own parents, Howard and Hazel (Burger) Pettigrew, moved back to the family farm in Troy Center from Texas, whenever I visited them the visit always included Mellie and John. I have many many fond memories of visiting the family farm and both sets of my Pennsylvanian parents. I will dearly miss Mellie, as I already do my own parents and John.

  4. “Aunt” Mellie was a wonderful lady. I have lots of fond memories of spending summers with my grandparents, Howard and Hazel Pettigrew, and visiting every day with Mellie, and John when he was alive. Her kitchen was always so warm and inviting, with wonderful meals shared at the dining room table. I feel very blessed to have had her in my life.

  5. Aunt Mellie always met you with a smile,a kinder person you would never meet. I remember as a child going every year to see all the baby lambs and helping to bottle feed her special babies! A few years back my husband got me 2 lambs, the first person I called was Aunt Mellie, she gave all the advice I needed to keep them happy and healthy! It had been many years since she had had some of her own,and was thrilled to help with mine. May you rest in peace and give Uncle John a big hug and kiss,Miss you always.

  6. Memories of Millie as part of the Troy Center Church family. Happy memories to her love ones.
