Genevieve M. Kovac

MEADVILLE " Genevieve M. Kovac, 95, of 17300 Cussewago Road, Meadville, died Thursday, May 27, 2010, at Meadville Medical Center. She was born Dec. 14, 1914, to the late Joseph and Josephine Malinowska Wnek. She married the late Donald R. Kovac Sr. on Nov. 14, 1937. Genevieve enjoyed crocheting, sewing and cooking. She retired from Talon after 30 years of service. In her earlier years she worked at Marx Toy Factory in Girard. She was of the Catholic faith. She is survived by two daughters, Patricia Sharrar and her husband, Don, of Apollo, and Donna Riordan of Meadville; a son, Donald R. Kovac Jr. of Meadville; two sisters, Beatrice and Helen Wnek, both of Edinboro; seven grandchildren; 14 great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband on July 8, 2006; her parents; three brothers, John, Andy and Stanley; and three sisters, Wanda, Mary and Josephine. Calling hours will be at Roofner-Collins Funeral Home, 544 Chestnut St., Meadville, on Monday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m., with a prayer vigil service at 8:30 p.m. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Tuesday at 10 a.m. at St. Brigid Church, 383 Arch St., Meadville, with Father Mark O’Hern as celebrant.
