Raymond Guy Brown, 89, formerly of 2007 Meadowland Drive, Meadville, died Thursday, April 1, 2010, in the Emergency Room at Meadville Medical Center.
Born in Cooperstown on Aug. 28, 1920, he was a son of Fred R. Brown and Francis E. Rice Brown. He married Alice Hoover, Dec. 27, 1948.
He started his senior year of school at Cooperstown High School, but graduated from Franklin High School in 1937. He was a sergeant with the U.S. Army Air Force in Europe during World War II. He was employed with Talon of Meadville for 43 years.
He was a life member of Veterans of Foreign Wars in Meadville.
He was a member of St. Agatha Church.
Survivors include his wife of 61 years, Alice Brown of Meadville; two sons, Jeffery Brown and his wife, Joanne, of Fishersville, Va., and Peter Brown and his wife, Betsy, of Dubois; a daughter, Beth Kampsen and her husband, Kurt, of Pittsburgh; a sister, Ruth Shay and her husband, Homer, of Cooperstown; and five grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents; two sisters, Ina Mae Kean and Myrtle Marie Hines; and a brother, Elmer R. Brown.
Calling hours will be Monday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. at Roofner-Collins Funeral Home, 544 Chestnut St., Meadville, with a prayer vigil service at 8:45 p.m.
Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Tuesday at 10 a.m. at St. Agatha Church, 353 Pine St., Meadville, with Father Raymond Gramata of the church as celebrant.
Burial will be in St. Brigid Cemetery, West Mead Township.
