Harry Watkins Jr. 84, of 15294 Harmonsburg, Road, Meadville, died Sunday, July 5, 2009, at Veterans' Administration Medical Center, Erie.He was born June 3, 1925, at Littles Corners, the son of the late Harry and Sylvia Frost Watkins. He married L. Geraine Stallard on Nov. 4, 1950, having celebrated 58 years of marriage. She survives. He was a self-employed auto mechanic and sold cars. He retired from Watkins Auto Service.He was a World War II veteran, having served in the Army Air Force from l943 to 1946.He was a member of the Vernon Lions Club. He was a member of the Elks Lodge 219, American Legion Post 111 and Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 2006, all of Meadville. He was an avid card player.Survivors include his wife of 58 years, L. Geraine Watkins of Meadville; five children, a daughter, Karen Hegner and her husband, Howard, of Midlothian, Va., a son, Richard H. Watkins and his wife, Marian, of Saegertown, a daughter Nancy D'Arrigo and her husband, Tony, of Wampum, a son, Daniel Watkins of Linesville, and a son, James A. Watkins of Harmonsburg; eight grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; and a brother, C. Edward Watkins and his wife, Irene, of Mercer.In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by three brothers, Robert Watkins, George Watkins and Howard Watkins.Calling hours will be from Wednesday 6 to 7:30 p.m. at Roofner-Collins Funeral Home, 544 Chestnut St., Meadville.Funeral and committal service will follow at 7:30 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home, with the Rev. Dwight Stallard officiating.Full military honors will be conducted at the funeral home following the funeral by Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 2006.
