Schneider, Frederick W. Frederick William Schneider, 90, of Meadville, died Sunday, May 31, 2009, at Meadville Medical Center.He was born on April 18, 1919, in Cumberland, Md., the son of the late William A. and Leah P. Metz Schneider. He married Lenora Frances Briner on June 20, 1940, in Cumberland.He was a member of St. Agatha Catholic Church in Meadville.He was a member of the Knights of Columbus Council No. 388 for more than 60 years, being the eldest member of the council.He had been on the board of directors of Fostermation Inc. in Meadville for 25 years.He was a U.S. Army veteran of World War II, having served in the European Theatre. He was a member of the American Legion Post No. 0205.He was a charter member of the Robotics International division of the Society of Manufacturing Engineers. He was a certified manufacturing engineer, having retired from Fenestra Corp. in Erie as a chief tool engineer.Survivors, in addition to his wife, Lenora, of almost 69 years, include a son, Frederick W. Schneider Jr. and his wife, Johanna, of Cochranton; a daughter, Patricia Ann Hall and her husband, Terry, of Lovettsville, Va.; five grandchildren, William F. Schneider and his wife, Heather, of Panama, N.Y., Terry Lee Hall II and his wife, Jules, of Shepardstown, W.Va., Regina P. Merritt and her husband, Kevin, of Cochranton, Jennifer Ann Everline and her husband, Shawn, of Shepardstown, and James F. Schneider, who preceded him in death. He is also survived by five great-grandchildren, Hannah E. Schneider and Tyce W. Schneider, both of Panama, Mason P. Hall of Shepardstown, Fiona G. Everline of Shepardstown and Alison J. Merritt of Cochranton; three great-stepgrandchildren, Tyler Walker, Camille Walker and Nathalie Walker, all of Shepardstown; a brother, Donald C. Schneider of LaVale, Md.; and two sisters, Rita Morris of Lancaster and Dorothy Wentzel of Fisher, Minn.He was preceded in death by a grandson, James F. Schneider of Cochranton; two brothers, Eugene Schneider and Robert Schneider, both of Cumberland, Md.; and a sister, Eleanor Winebrenner of Mt. George, Md.Calling hours will be held on Tuesday from 6 to 8 p.m. at Roofner-Collins Funeral Home, 544 Chestnut St., Meadville.A vigil prayer service will be held at 7:45 p.m. on Tuesday at the funeral home.Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10 a.m. on Wednesday at St. Agatha Catholic Church, 353 Pine St., Meadville, with Father Raymond Gramata as celebrant. Burial with full military honors conducted by VFW Post 2006, Meadville, will be in St. Agatha Cemetery.
