Thomas R. Frantz II, 32, of 94 Second Ave., Franklin, died at 6:25 a.m. Sunday, April 27, 2008, at UPMC Northwest Hospital. Born April 19, 1976, in Franklin, he was the son of Thomas R. Frantz and Peggy L. Rex. Mr. Frantz was a 1995 graduate of Rocky Grove High School. He was employed as a salesman/buyer for many area car dealerships and worked as the salesman/manager for Rex TV. He was also a notary public. Mr. Frantz loved to watch NASCAR and the Pittsburgh Steelers and enjoyed playing Texas Hold 'Em cards and camping. He loved spending time with his family, especially his two sons. Surviving are two children, Thomas Scott Frantz and Brandon Michael Frantz, both of Meadville; his father, Thomas R. Frantz and his wife, Connie, of Meadville; his mother, Peggy L. Buchna and her fianca??, Don Schaffer, of Franklin; two sisters, Tammy Buchna of Franklin and Chandra Frantz of Meadville; two brothers, Bryan Frantz of Meadville and Bill Buchna and his wife, Lisa, of Franklin. Also surviving are his maternal grandmother, Ruth Rex of Polk; his paternal grandparents, Roger R. and Doris R. Frantz of Oil City; uncles and aunts, including Gary Frantz of Denver, Colo., Glenn Frantz and wife Kari of Kandern, Germany, Clyde "Skip" Rex of Polk, Dennis Rex of Fredonia, N.Y., Jan Beichner and husband Ray of President and Darlene Rex of Tallahassee, Fla.; and several cousins. Preceding him in death were his grandfather, Clyde Rex; an uncle, Brian Frantz; and his step-father, Thomas Buchna. Friends may call from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Wednesday at the Robert W. Gardinier Funeral Home at 1315 Chestnut St., Franklin. Funeral services will be conducted at 10 a.m. Thursday in the funeral home. Rev. Philip Scherr, pastor of Good Hope Lutheran Church, will officiate. Interment will be in Sunset Hill Memorial Gardens. The family suggests memorials may be made to the Thomas and Brandon Frantz Education Fund, National City Bank, 201 Chestnut St., Meadville, 16335.   1. I met Tom through playing Texas Holdem at Louie San Felice’s house several years ago. We grew to be friends. My life has been enriched thru knowing him. I will miss him. I will pray for him and you as we all grief for him.

  5. I didn’t know Tom all that long, but for the yr. or two that I did, he was a great guy. Friendly, honest, and ALWAYS upbeat even during that time when it would’ve been so hard. “Only the good die young.”

George and I wnt to high school with Tom and even tho we have not seen him since we graduated we we very sad to see of his passing, i had alot of classes with Tom and i will always remember how kind he was and quick with a comeback his sense of humor was great!
