Thelma J. Johnson, 75, of The Caring Place ,Franklin died at 3:45 PM ,on Thursday, October 24, 2013 at The Caring Place. Born September 18, 1938 in Utica, Thelma was the daughter of the late Norris McCartney and Florence R. (Martin) McKissick. On March 5, 1960 she married Robert L. Johnson, and he survives. Thelma was employed as a data processor at Integra Bank, a dietary aide at Franklin High School, and a claims processor for FEMA. She enjoyed bird watching, genealogy, traveling, and most of all spending time with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. In addition to her husband, Thelma is survived by her son, Mark Johnson and his wife, Kimberly, of Cooperstown; her daughter, Michelle Heckathorne and her husband, Greg, of Polk; her brother, Richard McCartney and his wife, Ella, of Sandy Lake; her grandchildren, Paula Heckathorne of Franklin and Dakota Heckathorne of Polk; and her great-grandchildren, Ayden and Xander Heckathorne of Franklin. She was preceded in death by her parents; and her step-father, Lester McKissick . Friends will be received at the Gardinier Funeral Home, Inc., 1315 Chestnut Street, Franklin, on Monday, October 28th, 2013, from 10:00AM - 12:00PM. Funeral services will be held following visitation at 12:00 PM at the funeral home, with Rev. Lonny Wolford pastor of the Fox Street Church of God, officiating. Interment will be in Perry Chapel Cemetery. The family suggests that memorial contributions be made to a charity of ones choice. Mark, I am so sorry to hear about your mom. I did not find out about this soon enough for Joe and I to attend the funeral. I really sorry for that. If there is anything that you guys need, please ask. We will keep you in our thoughts and prayers.

I am so sorry to see that Ms. Johnson has passed away in death. Please accept my family’s condolences. May your hearts find peace and comfort from the Bible’s promise at John chapter 5 verses 28 and 29 and Psalms chapter 37 verse 29 which says that soon God is going to resurrect back to life on earth our loved ones who have died so that we can be reunited with them.
