Stanley J. Wnuk passed away on Saturday, December 18, 2010 at the Ridgecrest Healthcare Center in Ridgecrest, CA at the age of 93. Stanley spent most of his life in the Oil City area. He was a "jack-of-all trades" but, worked as a Foreman at the Glassylvania Company in Oil City for over 30 years. He was a member of the VFW, Pulaski, PNA and Elks clubs. Stan served 18 months in the US Navy during World War II. He was born to Joseph and Angela Wnuk on May 2, 1917 in Dunkirk, NY, who preceded him in death. Also preceding him in death are three brothers, Vince, Frank and Casimir "Kike" Wnuk; and two sisters, Josephine McLaughlin and Casimira Krasowski. Stanley was married to Annette Badach, who preceded him in death in 1994 after 56 years of marriage. He leaves behind three children, Margaret Ann Baland and her husband, George of Ridgecrest, CA, Joseph Wnuk and his wife, Sharon of Brentwood, TN, and Mary Jo Barthen and her husband, Wayne of Cranberry Township, PA; seven grandchildren, David Baland and his wife, Caroline of Albuquerque, NM, Amy Baland and Jay Robinson of Long Beach, CA, Mary Stewart and her husband, Victor of Carlsbad, CA, Laura Thomason and her husband, John of Decatur, AL, Mandy Adams her husband, Brad of Nashville, TN, Erik Wnuk of Brentwood, TN, and Jenifer Spang of Oil City. Stanley is also survived by four great grandchildren, Mollie Baland, Nicholas Snodgrass, Christian Stewart, and Victoria Stewart. Friends will be received at the Gardinier Funeral Home, Inc., 1315 Chestnut Street, Franklin, on Monday, December 27, 2010 from 2-4 P.M. The recitation of the Rosary will be led by the family at 3:00 P.M. A Funeral Mass will be celebrated on Tuesday, December 28, 2010 at 10:00 A.M. at the Assumption BVM Church in Oil City with Monsignor William Karg as Celebrant. Interment will follow in Calvary Cemetery where full military honors will be accorded by the VETS Honor Guard. The family suggests that memorials be made to the Visiting Nurses Association of Venango County, 491 Allegheny Blvd., Franklin, PA 16323 or the American Cancer Society, 2115 West 38th Street, Erie, PA 16508.
