Shirley Ann Warren, 78, of 335 Maple St., Conneaut Lake, passed away at home on Friday, Oct. 1, 2010. She was born Sept. 7, 1932, in Erie. She was a daughter of Ernest Gordon Whitesmith and E. Perilla Whitesmith Frey. She married William (Bill) F. Warren, June 28, 1958. She liked doing crossword puzzles, reading, talking with people and collecting frogs. She loved spending time with her family and spoiling her grandsons. She was an absolutely wonderful woman and never had a bad thing to say about anyone. Her husband, Bill, compared her to an angel. She was a 1950 graduate of Linesville High School and a 1954 graduate of Grove City College, with a degree in teaching. She taught English, Spanish and French. She was a teacher at schools in Kernsville, Greenville and Ashtabula, Ohio. In 1971, Shirley and her husband, Bill, purchased Chilson’s Home Furnishings. Together they owned and operated the business with their family until 2006 when their son, Jeff, and his wife, Crystal, took over the business. Survivors include her husband of 52 years, William (Bill) F. Warren of Conneaut Lake; a son, Jeffrey Warren and his wife, Crystal, of Conneaut Lake; two grandsons, Ryan M. Warren and his wife, Amy, of Conneaut Lake, and Curtis J. Warren and his wife, Kelly, of Streetsboro, Ohio; three great-grandchildren, Lyla Jane Warren, Ryan M. Warren Jr. and Lillian Rose Warren; two brothers, Fred Whitesmith of Linesville, and Scott Whitesmith and his wife, Karen, of Linesville; and several nieces, nephews and cousins. She was preceded in death by her parents; her father-in-law, Milton F. Warren; her mother-in-law, Claribel Warren; and a brother-in-law, James Warren. Calling hours will be Sunday from 4 to 7 p.m. at Roofner-Collins Funeral Home, 544 Chestnut St., Meadville. The funeral will be at 10 a.m. Monday at the funeral home, with Pastor Mark Frailey of Presbyterian Church of Conneaut Lake officiating. Burial will be private at Edgewood Cemetery, Ashtabula, Ohio. The family would like to thank hospice and the staff at Yolanda G. Barco Oncology Institute for all their help, compassion and understanding.
