Robert V. Baker Robert V. Baker, 76, of 148 Electra Lane, Cooperstown, passed away at his residence, surrounded by his loving family, on Thursday, July 15, 2010. Born December 23, 1933, in Franklin, he was the son of the late William L. and Gertie Freeman Baker. Robert married the former Ruth E. Loomis on March 5, 1955 and she preceded him in death. Mr. Baker was a member of the Community Church of God in Cooperstown. He had worked for CPT as a machinist and an assembler and retired from there in 1983 after working for 30 years. Mr. Baker enjoyed bowling, bicycling and spending time with his friends and family. He especially enjoyed his 50 years of marriage to his wife, Ruth. Mr. Baker is survived by his three sons, Mark F. Baker and his wife, Vicki, of Cooperstown, Douglas A. Baker of Franklin, and Kevin B. Baker and his wife, Shirley, of Cooperstown; and his daughter, Linda J. Miller, also of Cooperstown; and his three grandchildren, Jason S. Miller, of Sharon, Stacey A. Miller, of Franklin, and Zachary B. Baker of Cooperstown; and his special friend, Mark A. Kentz, of Franklin. Additionally, he is survived by his brother, Frederick P. Baker and his wife, Carol, of Franklin; his two brothers-in law, Richard Loomis and his wife, Nancy of Franklin, and Bradley Loomis and his wife, Ruth of Rochester, NH; and his sister-in-law, Barb Baker of Franklin. In addition to his parents and wife, Mr. Baker was preceded in death by his sisters, Carol Ann Baker and Ruth Baker; his brothers, Richard Coxson and William L. Baker, Jr.; and his grandson, Nathaniel Miller. Friends may call at the Gardinier Funeral Home Inc., 1315 Chestnut Street, Franklin, on Sunday, July 18 from 7 to 9 p.m. and also on Monday, July 19 from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Funeral Services for Mr. Baker will be held on Tuesday, July 20 at 11 a.m. at the Community Church of God in Cooperstown with the Rev. Barry Markle, presiding. Interment will follow in the Franklin Cemetery. The family suggests that memorial contributions be made to the Cooperstown Community Church of God, Cooperstown, PA 16317.
