Mary R. Roemer

Mary R. Roemer, 89, of 118 Center Street, Franklin, died on Saturday, July 7, 2012 at her sister Lillian's residence in West Farmington, Ohio. Born August 24, 1922 in Clintonville, she was the daughter of the late Elmer Ellsworth and Rachael Pearl Surrena Miller. She was married on June 14, 1952 to Willis J. Roemer, who preceded her in death on February 10, 1993. Mrs. Roemer owned and operated Roemer's Hair Fashion in Oil City. She was a member of the Franklin First United Methodist Church. She was a former member of the Ladies Auxiliary Moose and Eagles Clubs. She also enjoyed camping, sewing, and crafts. Mary is survived by her children Alan Roemer and his wife, Julia of Franklin and Maxine Preston and her husband, Fred of Pittsburgh; three sisters, Lillian Bowen of West Farmington, OH, Violet Usoff of Buttermilk Hill, and Irene Paden of Franklin; two grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren. In addition to her parents and her husband, Mrs. Roemer was preceded in death by her brothers, Elmer Miller, Jr., Edward Miller, and Perry Miller; and her sister, Altha Miller. Friends will be received at the Gardiner Funeral Home, Inc., 1315 Chestnut Street, Franklin on Wednesday, July 11 from 3-5 p.m. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Thursday, July 12 at the funeral home with the Rev. Jeff Little of the Franklin First United Methodist Church officiating. Interment will take place in Old Sandy Cemetery. The family suggests that memorials be made to the donor's choice.
