Mary Agnes Sweitzer Mary Agnes Sweitzer, 78, of Prospect Avenue, Franklin, passed away at 11:25 a.m., Saturday, June 25, 2011 (her 52nd Anniversary) at Sugar Creek Station, where she had resided for the past month. Born June 4, 1933 in Emlenton, Mary was the daughter of the late Glenn and Ella Boyles McCool. She was married to Orval Paul Sweitzer, Sr., June 25, 1959, and he preceded her in death on August 17, 2004. Mary was a homemaker. She was a member of the Cooperstown Presbyterian Church. She enjoyed shopping, word-search puzzles and visiting with her neighbors. She especially enjoyed the times she spent with her family. Mary is survived by her sons, Howard Sweitzer, Sr. and his wife, Julie, of Cherrytree; Larry Sweitzer and his wife, Dianna, of Rocky Grove; Tom Sweitzer of Oil City; Orval P. Sweitzer, Jr., and his wife, Maxine, of Franklin; and Gene Sweitzer and his wife, Cheryl, of Fort Drum, New York; her daughters, Martha D. Doyle and her husband, Jack, of Franklin; Mary Williams and her husband, William, of Four Oaks, North Carolina; Diana Sparling and her husband, David, of Cooperstown; Ella Sweitzer of Franklin; and Betty VanZandt and her husband, Ronald, Sr., also of Franklin. She is additionally survived by her brothers, George McCool of Erie; Clarence McCool of Cooperstown; and Bud McCool and his wife, Hun, of Cooperstown; and her sisters, Betty Noel of Cooperstown; and Violet Shingledecker of Franklin. Mary is also survived by her 22 grandchildren; 46 great-grandchildren; and 8 great-great-grandchildren. In addition to her parents and husband, Mary was preceded in death by her brothers, Ivan and Evan McCool; her sisters, Eva Montgomery and Elsie Moskey; and her grandchildren, Kenneth Paul Sweitzer, Kimberly Lou Sweitzer, and Larry Orval Sweitzer, Jr. Family and friends of Mary will be received at the Gardinier Funeral Home, Inc., 1315 Chestnut Street, Franklin, on Wednesday, June 29, 2011 from 3 to 7 p.m. Funeral Services will be held at the Funeral Home on Thursday, June 30 at 11 a.m., with Rev. Jonathan Bell, pastor of the Franklin Wesleyan Methodist Church, officiating. Interment will be in Cooperstown Cemetery.
