Mark Sharp, 54, of Mercer Road, Franklin, passed away at his residence on Thursday, October 3rd, following a lengthy illness. Born in Franklin, Mark was the son of Howard E. and Ethel (Tootie) VanZandt Sharp. He was married to the former Carol Kaltenbaugh on November 23, 1979, and she survives. Mark was employed as a food service worker at Polk Center for many years prior to his retirement. He was a member of the Atlantic Avenue United Brethren in Christ Church. In his younger years, Mark was a drummer for The Christian Folk band. Marks favorite hobby was being a disc jockey and doing the car cruises at Dairy Queen. He enjoyed car races, riding his Honda Gold Wing motorcycle, and going on cruises. He especially enjoyed spending time with his family at dinners and picnics. Mark was always known for giving Glory to God. In addition to his wife, Mark is survived by his daughters, Amy Reed and her husband, Matthew, of Rocky Grove, and Crystal Sharp of Franklin. He is also survived by his brother, Paul Sharp, and his sister, Deb Boocks and her husband, Dave, all of Rocky Grove. Mark was preceded in death by his father, Howard Sharp. Family and friends of Mark will be received at the Gardinier Funeral Home, Inc., 1315 Chestnut Street, Franklin on Monday, October 7, from 3 to 7 p.m. Funeral Services will be held on Tuesday, October 8 at 11 a.m. at the Atlantic Avenue United Brethren in Christ Church, with Rev. Gary Small officiating. Interment will be in Franklin Cemetery.   7. My thoughts and prayers are with Carol and the girls, his mom and brother and sister. Mark was such a wonderful, spiritual guy. I worked with him for many years at Polk Center Dietary. Had many great funny memories of him there. He also came to my husband’s garage for car inspections. He d.j.’d my daughters graduation party years ago. He will be greatly missed. RIP Mark.

  8. To Mark’s Family: We will miss Mark not only as a Friend but also as a Teacher. He taught alot of us in the area to be professional in all we do and threw in some great new ways to Dj. Mark and my Father were great friends for years at Polk. They now will be together with all of the rest of our Families up in heaven. I’m sure laughing, telling great stories, and jokes…Take care.

  11. Dear Sharp family,

    Please accept my condolences for the recent loss of Mark.  I knew him when we were younger playing in the neighborhood in the “Grove”.  I only saw him a few times when we were older and he was always very pleasant.
