Lloyd Dewayne Shawgo, 88, of 5289 Georgetown Road, died at 8:50 PM ,December 11, 2012 at Sugarcreek Station. Born August 15, 1924 in Franklin, Lloyd was the son of the late William and Edna (Foster) Shawgo. He was married to Catherine Johnson on June 6, 1948, and she survives. Lloyd proudly served his country in The Army during the World War II era, and during this time he received the Good Conduct Medal, American Theater Service Medal, and the Victory Medal. Lloyd worked at Krogers for over twenty years. He also owned the Golden Dawn in Polk and was self-employed as a Grocery Store/Super Store Owner in Franklin. He was a Life Member of the Elks BPOe #110. He was also a member of the Eagles Club and VFW. He enjoyed bowling and Duckpins. In addition to his wife, Lloyd is survived by his son Fred Shawgo and his wife, Linda, of Franklin, his daughter Patty Attinger and her husband, Fred, of Franklin, and his sister Betty Jolley of San Diego. He is additionally survived by his three grandchildren; Steven Shawgo and his wife, Loretta, of Moyock, NC, Staci Shawgo of Franklin, and Alison Attinger of Franklin, and his four great-grandchildren; Sammy Shawgo, Joey Shawgo, Grayson Beck, and Kari Shawgo. He was preceded in death by his parents, his three brothers; Clair, Ed, and Russ Shawgo, and his sister Esther Green. Family and friends of Lloyd will be received at Gardinier Funeral Home, Inc., 1315 Chestnut St., Franklin, on Friday, December 14, 2012 from 10-11 a.m. Funeral services will be held following visitation on Friday at 11:00 a.m., with Rev. Stephanie Thompson pastor of the Nicklin United Methodist Church, officiating. Military honors will be accorded by the V.E.T.S. Honor Guard. Interment will be in Franklin Cemetery. The family suggests that memorial contributions be made to the American Cancer Society, PA Division Inc., PO Box 896, Hershey, PA 17033-0896 .
