Lawrence Henry Coon, Sr., 81, of 19046 Adamsville Road, Cochranton, passed away, on Thursday, May 10, 2012 at his residence. He was born March 12, 1931 in Moisertown, a son of the late Chester and Erba Cole Coon. He married Dorothy "Dot" Kilburn on December 18, 1947. She survives.
He retired on 1988 from Talbar, Inc. of Meadville. He was a member of Masonic Lodge #234 in Meadville and was a 32nd Degree Mason. He was also a member of the Scottish Rite of Erie, ZemZem Shrine Club of Erie, ZemZem Hillbilly Clan 92, Kismet Grotto of Meadville, Meadville Elks Club Lodge #219, Meadville Eagles Club Lodge #429, and a past president of both Crawford County Shrine Club and Grotto Park in Saegertown.
He was an avid golfer, bowler, fisherman, hunter, and a New York Yankees fan.
In addition of his loving wife, Dot of 64 years, he is survived by a daughter, Nancy Myer and her companion Ken Rockwell of Murrysville, PA; a son, Larry Coon Jr. and his wife Mary of Meadville; grandchildren, Laura Mohr, David Myer and his wife Jamie, Jennifer Myer and his fiance David Samone, Allison Rowse and her husband Craig, Karen Coon, Anne Schwab and her husband Rob, and Sam Coon and his fiance Tanya Strait; great grandchildren, Makyala, Alan, Amelia, Tommy, Cody, Mitchell, Noah, Katie, and Dylan; brothers, W. Arnold Coon and his wife Evelyn, Raymond Coon and his wife Florence, and Melvin D. Coon; sisters, Shirley Layman and her husband Lyle, Elvira Peterson and her husband Homer, Harriette Hoffman and her husband Wayne, Judy Coon, Karen Johnson and her husband Raymond, Wilma Means and her husband Darrell; sister-in-laws, Shirley Coon Boyd and Carol Coon; brother-in-law, Victor Rudy; and many nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents; sisters, Irene Dillaman and Viola Rudy; and brothers, George and Ronald Coon.
Family and friends are welcome to call on Saturday, May 12th from 2:00pm to 4:00pm and 7:00pm to 9:00pm at Roofner-Collins-Warren Funeral Home and Cremation Services, Inc., 544 Chestnut Street, Meadville. With a Masonic service to be held at 7:00 P,M.
A funeral service will take place on Monday, May 14th at 10:00am at the funeral home with David Derby, officiating.
Burial will follow at Roselawn Memorial Gardens, Vernon Township.
