John M. Smith, 68, of Chestnut St. in Franklin, passed away on Friday March 16, 2012 at his residence. He was born, May 19, 1943, in Meadville, PA and was the son of the late Jack C. and Mildred L. Smith. John was married to Andrea C. Weiss, who survives. He was a woodworker who made museum quality miniature furniture, and was a jazz guitar player. In addition to his wife he is survived by his son Aaron M. Smith and wife Valdirene of Jacksonville, FL, his daughter Holly L. Smith and fiance Juan Valencia of Franklin, his brother Thomas P. Smith and wife Suzanne VanNuys of Hyattsville, MD. He is also survived by grandchildren; Jake M. Smith, Nicholas M. Smith, Andrea M. Smith, Sarah A. Smith, and Shauryn DaSilva, and his nephews; Roan Smith, Kelly Smith, and Ian Smith VanNuys. He was preceded in death by his parents, and two brothers; Michael and Timothy Smith. A memorial service for John will be held at a future date. The family suggests that memorial contributions be made to the VNA Foundation, 491 Allegheny Blvd , Franklin, PA, 16323 or National Historic Trust, 1785 Massachusetts Avenue, NW, Washington, DC, 20036.
