Jeffrey T. Whitman, 52, of 437 Gilfillan Street, Franklin, died on Tuesday, February 21, 2012 at UPMC Northwest in Seneca, following an extended illness. Born August 19, 1959 in Oil City, PA, he was the son of Jack D. and Mary D. Packer Whitman. Jeffrey was a 1977 graduate of Rocky Grove High School and studied business at the University of Pittburgh, Titusville. He worked as a salesman for several car dealerships over the length of his career, the most recent being Ellis Chevrolet in Emlenton, PA. Jeffrey attended several United Methodist Churches. He enjoyed sports including basketball, baseball, golf, and softball. He was the first baseman for the 1984 Franklin Foodland Softball Team, which won both the Class A state and national titles. He also enjoyed being an umpire for the girls' softball and boys' baseball. Uncle Jeff especially loved spending time with his two nephews, Breck L. and Colton J. Schneider and attending their sporting events. Uncle Jeff also thought Aubria Jinae was "something else" and loved her dearly. Jeffrey is survived by his father, Jack D. Whitman of Rocky Grove; his sister Ann M. Schneider and her husband, Steven of Galloway; his nephews, Breck L. Schneider and Colton J. Schneider, both of Galloway; his niece, Aubria J. Schneider of Galloway; and his maternal aunt, Donna C. Shipley of Tennessee. He was preceded in death by his mother, Mary D. Whitman; maternal grandparents, Donald J. and Catherine M. Packer; paternal grandparents, Ralph J. and Dorothy M. Whitman; and his uncles William D. Packer and James E. Whitman. There will be no public visitation. A private memorial service will be held at the convenience of the family. Gardinier Funeral Home, Inc., 1315 Chestnut Street, Franklin is handling the arrangements. Interment will take place in Sunset Hill Memorial Gardens. The family suggests donations be made to Sugar Creek Station, 351 Causeway Drive, Franklin, PA 16323.     I remember a lot of fun times when my mother and father spent times playing 500 with Pete and Dot. Jack and James and my sister, Sandy, and I would “horse around” keeping things in an uproar.
