Janet Gourley, 60, of 1351 Sassafrass Street ,Franklin died at 9:00 AM, Friday, November 8, 2013 at the Veterans Affairs Medical Center in Milwaukee, Wisconsin. Born August 23, 1953 in Titusville, Janet was the daughter of Carl and Janet (Beggs) Gates. Janet proudly served her country in The Army earning a National Defense Service Medal. She graduated Magna Cum Laude from Clarion University of Pennsylvania in 2000. Janet retired from Polk Center in 2010 where she had been employed as a Resident Service Aide. She was a member of several local bowling, pool and golf leagues. She was an amazing mother who enjoyed spending time with her family and friends. In addition to her father, Janet is survived by her daughters, Janet Gourley of Shorewood, Wisconsin, and Danette Long (Gourley) and son-in-law, Thomas Long, of West Bend, Wisconsin; her son Brandon Gourley and daughter-in-law, Rebecca, of Pittsburgh; and her granddaughters, Lorelie Gourley and Isabella Gourley both of Pittsburgh. She was preceded in death by her mother. Friends will be received at the Gardinier Funeral Home, Inc., 1315 Chestnut Street, Franklin, on Thursday, November 14, 2013, from 12:00PM - 1:00PM. A Memorial Service will be held following visitation on Thursday at 1:00PM, with Rev. David Smith pastor of the Church of the Nazarene, Franklin officiating. Military honors will be accorded by the V.E.T.S. Honor Guard.   1. I was shocked to see Jan’s obit.  It had been years since I had seen her & at times I would stop to visit with her. We always had wonderful visits.  She was a fantastic friend & will sadly be missed by all.. My deepest condolences & thoughts & prayers are with the whole Gourley & Gates family.

  9. Jan was a kind woman and a great mentor. I received my degree thanks to her driving me to and from class. It was an honor to work alongside her at Venango Campus and I mourn her loss.

    I only hope when my time comes, to see her in Paradise with our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ.
