Herbert L. Best, Jr. Herbert L. Best, 77, of Bredinsburg Road, Franklin, passed away on Sunday, November 7. Born July 11, 1933 in Nickleville, he was the son of the late Herbert L. and Joanna Blauser Best, Sr. Mr. Best was married on December 27, 1952 to the former Margie Gross, who survives. He was a Korean War Era Veteran and served in Germany. Prior to his retirement on April 26, 1995, Herbert was employed at Joy Manufacturing for over 30 years, as a machinist and later as a foreman. Prior to working at Joy, he had been employed with PennDOT as a truck driver. Mr. Best was a lifetime member of the Titusville V.F.W. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, boating, woodworking and golfing. He especially loved the times he spent with his family, grandchildren and great-grandchildren. In addition to his wife, Herbert is survived by his son, David J. Best and his wife, Roberta, of Miamisburg, Ohio; his two daughters, Linda Smith of Franklin, and Cynthia L. Best of Titusville; his six grandchildren, Sharon Pine and her husband, Rob, of Atglen, Pennylvania, Jacquelyn Struthers and her husband, Mike, of Seneca, Travis A. Young, of Titusville, Eric Best and his wife, Tiffany, and Matthew and Zachary Best, all of Miamisburg, Ohio; and his five great-grandchildren, Abigail, Michael, Makayla, Andrea, and Lily. Additionally, he is survived by his brother, John (Jack) Best and his wife, Inez, of Franklin; and his sisters, Kathryn Osborne and her husband, Oakley, of Franklin, and Barbara Kifer and her husband, Bud, of Sligo. Friends and family will be received at the Gardinier Funeral Home Inc., 1315 Chestnut Street, Franklin on Tuesday, November 9 from 3 to 7 p.m. Funeral Services for Mr. Best will be held at the Funeral Home on Wednesday, November 10 at 1 p.m. with the Rev. Robert Instine, pastor of the Middleton Church of God in Cable, Ohio, and also the father-in-law of David Best, officiating. Interment will follow at Sunset Hill Memorial Garden where military honors will be accorded by the Titusville V.F.W. Honor Guard.
