Helen Muck Heil, 88, of Meadville, passed away, on Saturday, January 4, 2014, at Wesbury United Methodist Retirement Community. Helen was born in Braddock, PA, on November 30, 1925, a daughter of Lawrence A. and Evelyn Lee Muck. Her family moved to Meadville in 1935. On February 15, 1947, she married Albert F. Heil, who preceded her in death on May 17, 2003.
She attended St. Agatha School and graduated from Meadville High School. She retired from Talon, Inc., in 1989. She was employed by GTI-Saegertown for 5 years and Spaulding's Wholesale for 6 years. As a teenager, she worked at the Nut Shop and Woolworth's 5 & 10 store.
She loved family get-togethers and especially spending time with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She was a member of the Tapping Tootsies and a former line-dancer at the Meadville Community Center. She was a walking-for-health enthusiast, took up cross-country skiing in her 60's, an avid reader and a member of St. Agatha's Roman Catholic Church.
Survivors include daughters, Cynthia A. Heil, Asheville, N.C., and Barbara J. Furno and her husband, William D. Furno of Meadville; a grandson, Richard Furno and his wife, Heather, of Mt. Airy, MD; a granddaughter, Crystal Hemlock and her husband, Jason of Meadville; three great-grandchildren, Jade, Colton and Caylee; a her sister, Mabel Muck of Erie, PA; and several nieces and nephews.
in addition to her husband she was preceded in death by her parents, a sister, Anna Fisher, and a brother, Martin A. Muck.
There will be no calling hours.
A memorial mass will be held at St. Agatha Roman Catholic Church, 353 Pine Street, Meadville, on Saturday, April 12, 2014 at 10:00 A.M.
The family requests that memorial contributions to be made to St. Agatha Roman Catholic Church, 353 Pine Street, Meadville, PA 16335 or to the charity of donor's choice.
