Gladys L. Stein, 97, of Wesbury United Methodist Retirement Community, passed away, Saturday, December 21, 2013. She was born April 5, 1916 in Greenville, Pennsylvania a daughter of Clifford Long and Grace Hovis Long. She married Harold A. Stein on July 4, 1939, he preceded her in death on December 3, 1995.
She was a 1934 graduate of Penn High School in Greenville and she graduated from the Spencer School of Nursing in 1937.
Gladys retired after many years from Spencer Hospital where she worked as a registered nurse.
She was a member of Saint Agatha Roman Catholic Church and a member of the Saint Agatha Altar Rosary Society.
Gladys is survived by three daughters, Judy Smith of Meadville, Kathy Stoyer and her husband Larry of Saegertown, and Karen Langley and her husband Lee of Meadville; three sons, Barney Stein and his wife Joan of Wilmington, North Carolina, Mike Stein and his wife Cecelia of Meadville, and James Stein and his wife Monica of Pittsburgh; numerous grandchildren and great grandchildren; a sister, Betty Braswell of Linesville; and several nieces and nephews.
In addition to her parents and loving husband, Harold she was preceded in death by three brothers, Bill, Dick, and Don Long; a sister, Louise Charter; and a grand-daughter, Rhonda Smith.
Family and friends are welcome to call on Thursday, December 26th from 6:00pm to 8:00pm at Roofner-Collins-Warren Funeral Home and Cremation Services, Inc., 544 Chestnut Street, Meadville. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Friday, December 27th at 12:00pm at Saint Agatha Roman Catholic Church, 353 Pine Street, Meadville with Father Matthew Kujawinski, pastor, as celebrant.
Burial will take place in Saint Agatha Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers memorial donations may be made in Gladys' memory to a charity or organization of the donor's choice.
