Freeman O. Baker, Sr. Freeman O. Baker, Sr., 94, of 191 28 Divison Hwy, Carlton, PA, died at 5:05 a.m., Tuesday, January 12, 2010 at Wesbury United Methodist Home in Meadville. Born January 3, 1916, in Red Bank Township, Armstrong County, he was the son of the late Earl and Anna Morrison Baker. Freeman had worked at Polk Center as a powerhouse operator and retired from there in 1981. He worked at Amalie Refining for 30 years, and also worked at Chicago Pneumatic Tools for 2 years. He was an Army WWII Veteran. He was at one time an active member of the Franklin Lions Club; a life member of the Disabled Veterans of America, where he served as vice commander for 5 years; a life member of the Venango Coon and Fox Club; a member of the American Legion; a member of the PA Trappers Association, where he taught PA Hunter Safety Courses; and and honorary member of the Rocky Grove Lions Club. He was actively involved with Special Olympics, Big Uncle Days and the Landowners Dinners for the Federation of Sportmans. Freeman is survived by 2 sons, Michael DeWayne Baker of Stoneboro, and Timothy C. Baker of Cochranton; a daughter, Rebecca Seidle and her husband, Keith of Cochranton; two brothers, Frank Baker of Franklin and Merle Baker and his wife, Rita, of Franklin. He is also survived by his seven grandchildren, Michael Baker of Franklin, Greg Baker and his wife, Windy of Colorado Springs, Colorado, Mark Baker of Cochranton, Stephenie Gregory and her husband, Sean of Cochranton, Timothy Baker of Cochranton, Melissa Baker of Cambridge Springs, Pennsylvania, and Christeen Ongley and her husband Ryan of Cochranton; and 8 Great Grandchildren. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his four brothers, DeWayne Baker, Arthur Baker, Eugene Baker, and Eldred Baker; a sister, Bealuh Willyoung; a son, Freeman O. Baker, Jr., and a great-granddaughter. Friends may call from 3 to 5 and 7 to 9 p.m. Thursday, January 14, 2010 at the Gardinier Funeral Home Inc., 1315 Chestnut Street, Franklin. Funeral Services will be held at 11 a.m Friday, January 15 in the Funeral Home with the Rev. Gary Small, pastor of the Atlantic Avenue United Brethren in Christ Church, presiding.   3. My deepest sympathies to the family. My late husband Bob worked with Freeman at the power house. Freeman was one of the nicest persons I’ve ever known.
