Forrest L. Crisman Forrest L. Crisman, 86, of Kay Glen Drive, Polk, passed away at 4:01 a.m. at UPMC Northwest on Tuesday, November 16, 2010. Born September 15, 1924, in Franklin, he was the son of the late Chester C. and Jenny Beers Crisman. Forrest enlisted in the United States Army in 1943 and served with the 278 Field Artillery Battalion in the European Theatre, where he was a member of a 2-man crew operating a 50 caliber air-cooled machine gun. He received the Good Conduct Medal, the American Theatre Service Medal, the EAME Theatre Service Medal and the World War II Victory Medal. Prior to his retirement in 1980, Forrest was employed at Chicago Pneumatic Tool and worked in the warehouse. He was a member of the Franklin Church of the Nazarene. He enjoyed hunting, fishing and gardening with flowers and vegetables. He was an avid Pittsburgh Pirates and Steelers fan. He was married on April 6, 1946 to the former Mary Suznovich, who survives. In addition to his wife, Forrest is survived by his son, Dale E. Crisman and his wife, Beverly, of Pikeville, Kentucky, and his daughter, Susan Cox of Franklin. He is also survived by his 3 grandchildren, Kimberly Crisman of Pikeville, Kentucky, Larry F. Dunlap and his wife, Tara, of Franklin, and Travis Cox and his fiancee', Amanda Serncez, of La Plato, Maryland; and his seven great-grandchildren, Ashely King of Hannastown, PA, Kaelan Miller of Franklin, Nate and Calista Dunlap of Clarion, Ryan and Samuel Dunlap of Franklin, and Jordan Crisman of Pikeville, Kentucky. Additionally Forrest is survived by his sister, Mable Mook, of Franklin. In addition to his parents, Forrest was preceded in death by his step-mother, Dorothy Crisman; and his brother, Herbert Crisman, and an infant brother, Dale Eugene Crisman. Family and friends of Forrest will be received at the Gardinier Funeral Home Inc., 1315 Chestnut Street, Franklin on Thursday, November 18 from 3-7 p.m. Funeral Services for Forrest will be held at the Funeral Home at 1 p.m. on Friday, November 19, with the Rev. David Smith, pastor of the Franklin Church of the Nazarene, officiating. Interment will follow at Sunset Hill Memorial Garden, where military honors will be accorded by the local V.E.T.S. Honor Guard. The family suggests that memorial contributions be made to the American Cancer Society - 10 West Front Street, Oil City PA 16301.
