Elizabeth T. Higby, 88, of Meadville, passed away on July 7, 2011 at Crawford County Care Center. She was a devoted mother and grandmother she will be greatly missed by all of her family.
Elizabeth was born in Meadville on August 11, 1922 the daughter of Louis Parrasewich and Josephine Grabowska. She married Bernard I. Higby on November 17, 1943, he preceded her in death.
She was a 1940 graduate of Meadville High School. She was a homemaker and also had worked as a dental receptionist for Dr. Abe Finton and Dr. Weldey in Meadville.
She was a member of Grace United Methodist Church.
Elizabeth enjoyed cooking, square dancing in her earlier years, and loved spending time with her grandchildren and having lunch with her high school classmates. She was a member of the United Methodist Women’s Circle and a 60 year volunteer for the American Red Cross.
She is survived by her daughter Annette Eccles and her husband Daryl of Meadville; two sons Bernard I. Higby, Jr. and his wife Rhonda of Pittsburgh, Robert L. Higby and his companion Celeste of Titusville; grandchildren, Daniel L. Eccles and his wife Laurie of State College, Adam N. Eccles of Pittsburgh, Julia Ann Baxter and her husband Matt of Pittsburgh, Jill Marie Rishell and her husband John of Pittsburgh, Jessica Topka and her husband Paul of Pittsburgh, Joshua Higby and his companion Donna of Las Vegas, NV, and Travis Higby of Titusville; two sisters, Barbara Zelasco of Meadville, Mary Jehle of Tampa, FL; great-grandchildren, Connor Higby, Lillian Rishell, Brooke Baxter, and Emily Rishell; and many nieces and nephews.
She is preceded in death by her husband, her parents, two brothers, Stanley Parrasewich and Joseph Parrasewich.
Friends may call at Roofner-Collins-Warren Funeral Home and Cremation Services, Inc., 544 Chestnut St., Meadville, PA on Saturday, July 9, 2011 from 2:00 P.M. to 4:00 P.M. and 7:00 P.M. to 9:00 P.M.
Funeral Service will be on Sunday, July 10, 2011 at 2:00 P.M. at the funeral home with Pastor Robert Goodnough of Grace United Methodist Church, officiating.
Burial will follow at Greendale Cemetery, Meadville, PA.

That smile. That’s how I’ll remember Mrs. Higby. I remember all the picnics with her and Bernie at the Rescue Squad grounds. She was such a pleasant person. My condolences to the family.
