Dorothy E. Gibbons

Dorothy E. Gibbons Dorothy E. Gibbons, 87, formerly of Franklin, passed away on Saturday, October 29, 2011, at her residence in Cochranton. Born March 15, 1924, in Franklin, Dorothy was the daughter of the late Charles W. and Daisy M. McMurdy Heffernan. She was married October 20, 1942, to Ronald A. Gibbons, and he preceded her in death on April 14, 2005. Mrs. Gibbons retired from First National Bank in 1987 after working as an Assistant Manager for more than 31 years. She also worked for 9 years as a Registrar at the Venango County Courthouse. She was a member of Worden Chapel United Methodist Church, Eastern Star #25, and was a member of the 25th Century Club at First National Bank. She is survived by her nephew, Mark Berringer and his wife, Chris, of Franklin; her special friends and caregivers, Ward and Connie Kiser, of Cochranton; her cousin, Marie Hansen of Frewsburg, New York; and several other nieces and nephews and friends. In addition to her parents and husband, Mrs. Gibbons was preceded in death by her brothers, Charles F. Heffernan, Paul L. Heffernan and Homer Heffernan; and her nephew whom she raised, Ronald Culp. Family and friends will be received at the Gardinier Funeral Home, Inc., 1315 Chestnut Street, Franklin, on Tuesday, November 1, 2011 from 3 to 7 p.m. Funeral Services will be held at the Funeral Home at 1 p.m. on Wednesday, November 2, 2011, with Rev. Tim Tygert, pastor of the Oil City Baptist Church, officiating. Interment will be in Lupher Chapel Cemetery.
