The passing of Doris Roae brings back a few lost memories from the 1950’s. As a youngster my parents attended the ” Dobie ” Roae Auction Barn in Frenchtown quite often. It was always filled with standing room only at times. The old wooden benches, the barn filled with merchandise stacked high and the smell of popcorn coming from the kitchen with good times enjoyed by all. If I am correct the kitchen was attended by either Doris or Dobie’s mother. They both had that big welcome smile and out going personality. I remember Chuck and his horse named Rodeo. The family dog was a large saint bernard named John. Roger and Denise helping out with the auction and around the kitchen. Mrs. Roae was well known and made many contributions to her communities. I am glad she lived a long and rewarding life. Fond memories of long ago. My condolences to her family.
Roger, Denise, Chuck, Mike, and family; I always remember your mom as kind, loving and accepting. She always made me feel so special. She was one special lady, and lady she was. She will be greatly missed, and you lose your mother you lose apart of you as well, there is a void that only she can replace. I know the feeling. God Bless you all, you are a Blessed Family. And I have never forgotten our years growing up. Love you always, Margie……you are in my thoughts and prayers.
My mother lived in the same mobile park in Florida as Larry and Doris. They were good friends thru the years in Hobe Sound. I worked with Larry Jr at AI in Meadville. I have fond stories that my mother talked about. May the memories of your mother remain in your hearts.
