Donna Ann Shipwash

Donna Ann Shipwash, 56, of 674 Grant St., Lot 45, Franklin, died at 7 a.m. Tuesday, Sept. 1, 2009, at her residence. She was born April 28, 1953, in Wytheville, Va., a daughter of William Clyde and Ann Waddell Shipwash. She was employed by the Visiting Nurses Association as a home care aide. She was a member of the Franklin Assembly of God Church, and she enjoyed puzzles, her dogs and fishing. Surviving are her mother, Ann Ratcliffe of Wytheville; four sisters, Karen R. Gravely, Sandra Wright and her husband, Michael, Andrea Ratcliffe and Teresa Waddell, all of Wytheville; and a brother, William Craig Shipwash and his wife, Carol Ann, of Franklin. Also surviving are a special aunt, Barbara Jack of Seneca; one niece and six nephews, S. Joel Shipwash, who is serving in Iraq, Amanda R. Shipwash of Franklin, Andrew C. Shipwash of Franklin, Chris B. Waddell , Jeremy F. Gravely, Joshua W. Gravely and Jordan B. Gravely, all of Wytheville; and two great-nephews and a great-niece. She was preceded in death by her father, William Clyde Shipwash; her stepfather, William J. Ratcliffe; her paternal grandmother, Lalla Catron; and her maternal grandmother, Julia Fleegle. Friends will be received from 3 to 7 p.m. Saturday at Gardinier Funeral Home, Inc., of 1315 Chestnut St., Franklin. I’m very sorry to hear this news. I met Donna while she was working at UCIP. Donna was a friend of mine and although I didn’t see her very often I will miss her.
