Dixie Virginia Huff Dixie Virginia Huff, 84, of Deckards Run Road, Utica, passed away at 12:10 a.m. at her residence on Monday, February 28, 2011. Born December 18, 1926 in Ohio, Dixie was the daughter of the late Charles L. and Jane Caldwell Rice. She was married to Raymond L. Huff, Sr. on October 2, 1944, and he preceded her in death. Dixie worked at Polk Center as a custodian until her retirement in 1981. She enjoyed reading, knitting, crocheting and baking. She was an avid Pittsburgh Steelers Fan, and always rooted for Jimmy Johnson, her favorite NASCAR Driver. Dixie is survived by her sons, Raymond L. Huff, Jr. of Meadville, and David A. Huff of Waynesboro; her four daughters, Cheryl E. Adams of Polk, Martha E. Riddle and her husband, Herbert L., of Sugarcreek, Sarah J. Pallanck and her husband, Randy, of Beaufort, South Carolina, and Susan F. Close of Utica. She is also survived by her grandchildren, Christina Simonian of Erie, Catherine Malliard and her husband, Jeffrey, of Polk, Cynthia Hovis of Franklin, Raymond Huff III and his wife, Angela, of Meadville, Billy J. Huff of Mobile, Alabama, Michelle Adams of Newnan, Georgia, Deanna Huff of South Carolina, Jamie Myers-Huff and Mary Barscz of Utica, Paul Adams and his wife, Mendy, of Polk, Andrew Dent of St. Albans, West Virginia,and Jacqueline Ursula and her husband, Milo, Justin Huff, and Janelle Huff, all of North Carolina; and her thirteen great-grandchildren. Additionally, Dixie is survived by her brothers, Walter Slater of Texas, and Harry Swanson of Titusville; and her sisters, Harriet Shuffstall and her husband, Glenn, of Clintonville, Helen Smith of Cambridge Springs, Ruth Ann Hays of Franklin, and Eva Mae Crocker and her husband, Don, of Titusville. In addition to her parents and husband, Dixie was preceded in death by her daughter, Virginia Lynne Dent; her grandson, Brian Myers; and her brother, Johnny Slater. Funeral Services for Dixie will be held at the convenience of her family. There will be no public visitation. The Gardinier Funeral Home, Inc., 1315 Chestnut Street, Franklin, is in charge of arrangements.
