Darel R. Cooper

CONNEAUTVILLE - Darel R. Cooper Sr., 79, of Rolling Fields, Conneautville, died there Monday, Dec. 28, 2009.Born in Meadville on Nov. 16, 1930, he was a son of Harry C. and Antoinette Novak Cooper. He married Lorraine Harvey on June 17, 1950.He retired as a pipe fitter with Seco Warwick Corporation after 33 years.He enjoyed fishing and loved spending time with his family and his beloved pets.Survivors include his wife of 59 years, Lorraine Cooper of Conneautville; two sons, Darel R. Cooper Jr. and his wife, Amy, of Cambridge Springs, and Gary Cooper of Washington state; two daughters, Terry Steadman of Townville and Susan Copeland of Saegertown; eight grandchildren, Jason, Joshua, Aaron and Iris Cooper, Christa Edwards, Ashley Fedorka, and Jessie and Brandon Walls; seven great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.He was preceded in death by his parents; a daughter, Linda Cooper; a sister, Ann Groover; and three brothers, Harry, Robert and James Cooper.Calling hour will be Thursday from 10 to 11 a.m. at Roofner-Collins Funeral Home Inc., 544 Chestnut St., Meadville.The funeral and committal service will follow at 11 a.m. at the funeral home, with the Rev. Harold Ferraro of New Beginnings Church of God officiating.Burial will be in Greendale Cemetery, West Mead Township.
