Bertile E. Lynn Bertile ("Bertie") E. Lynn, 81, of Congress Hill Road, Franklin, passed away unexpectedly at her home on Friday, July 20, 2012. Born June 29, 1931 in Oil City, Bertile was the daughter of the late Fred L. and Winifred McNerney Karns. She married Richard R. Lynn on November 16, 1956, and he preceded her in death in 2003. Bertie was a member of Christ United Methodist Church in Franklin. Music was a very important part of her life and she was a very active member in the church choir, and also sang with a group that weekly visited local nursing homes and hospitals. Bertie was also a cancer survivor and was a very active member in the local cancer survivor group. She is survived by her sisters, Dorothy Carlson and her husband, Frank, of Houston, Texas, Nancy Wilson and her husband, Kenneth, Winifred Williams and her husband, Lary, all of Meadville, and Linda Schmitt and her husband, John, and Donna Karns, of Saegertown. She is also survived by her cousins, Audine Smith of Pittsburgh and Patricia Millward of Florida; numerous nieces and nephews; and her very dear friend, Crystal Novak of Phoenix, Arizona. In addition to her parents and husband, Bertie was preceded in death by her brother, Fred Karns. Family and friends will be received at the Gardinier Funeral Home, Inc., 1315 Chestnut Street, Franklin on Monday, July 23 from 3 to 7 p.m. Funeral Services will be held at the Funeral Home on Tuesday, July 24 at 11:00 a.m. with Pastor Sam Wagner of Christ United Methodist Church, officiating. Interment will be in the Crawford Memorial Cemetery in Emlenton. The family suggests that memorial contributions be made to the American Cancer Society - PO Box 896, Hershey PA 17033-0896; the Venango County Humane Society - PO Box 1045, Oil City Pa 16301; and/or Christ United Methodist Church.
