Arthur J. Rowland, 88, of Meadville, passed away, Wednesday, January 30, 2013 at Crawford County Care Center. He was born November 5, 1924 in Meadville, Pennsylvania a son of Fred Rowland and Eva Pauline Shepard Rowland. He married Gloria E. Hassett on August 26, 1950, she preceded him in death on September 25, 2012.
He worked as a structural iron worker for the local 207 in Youngstown, Ohio.
Arthur served his county with the US Navy during World War II in the Pacific Theater.
He was member of Saint Paul's United Church of Christ.
He is survived by two sons, Frederick Rowland and his wife Mary Lou of Meadville and William Rowland of Rock Hill, South Carolina; two daughters, Barbara Payne of Berea, Ohio and Rebecca Rowland of Meadville; four grandchildren, Amy, Krista, Jill, and Shawn; six great grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews.
In addition to his loving wife, Gloria he was preceded in death by his parents.
Family and friends are welcome to call on Saturday, February 2nd from 1:00pm to 2:00pm at Roofner-Collins-Warren Funeral Home and Cremation Services, Inc., 544 Chestnut Street, Meadville. The funeral service will follow at 2:00pm with Reverend David McAfee of Saint Paul's United Church of Christ, officiating.
Burial will follow at Denny Cemetery, Hayfield Township.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations maybe made in Arthur's memory to Saint Paul's United Church of Christ, 1070 Park Ave., Meadville, Pennsylvania 16335.

My sympathy to Art’s family at this sad time. My father and Art worked hard together, hunted together and were buddies. Art touched me very much with his speach at my father’s funeral. May he rest in peace.
